# Instant Cashback for Your Customers

> Reward customers in real time at checkout using Hello Clever’s instant cashback platform, available both online and in-store via Tyro terminals.

Hello Clever’s Instant Cashback feature turns every completed payment into an immediate reward for your customers. As the first payment provider to deliver instant cashback using real-time payment technology, Hello Clever helps merchants drive loyalty, increase basket sizes, and grow brand visibility, both online and in physical locations. This page explains how cashback works, the technical flow behind it, campaign customisation options, and the in-store experience powered by Hello Clever’s partnership with Tyro.

## How real-time payments enable instant cashback

Instant Cashback is only possible because Hello Clever processes payments in real time. When a customer pays, funds move immediately from their account to yours. That instant confirmation is what lets Hello Clever credit cashback to the customer’s wallet in the same moment, with no delays and no batch processing.

  If a customer pays by card, cashback is credited once funds settle from the issuing bank. The reward still arrives promptly, but it is tied to card settlement timelines rather than immediate NPP confirmation.

### Technical flow

    The customer chooses a real-time payment method (for example, PayID) and enters their linked bank identifier at checkout.

  <Step title="Fund transfer to your account">
    The payment processes through the New Payments Platform (NPP), moving funds instantly from the customer’s account to yours.

  <Step title="Transaction verification">
    Once funds are confirmed in your account, Hello Clever’s system automatically initiates the cashback process.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Cashback calculated and split">
    Hello Clever calculates the cashback amount and splits it from the Payin. You do not need a separate account or manual top-up to fund the reward.

  <Step title="Cashback credited to customer's wallet">
    The reward appears instantly in the customer’s Hello Clever app wallet, accompanied by a confirmation notification.

## Online cashback

For online merchants, cashback is triggered the moment a real-time payment clears. Customers see the reward in their Hello Clever app immediately after completing a purchase on your website or app.

## In-store cashback

Hello Clever introduced Australia’s first in-store instant cashback experience in partnership with [Tyro](https://www.tyro.com/). Customers earn rewards at physical locations simply by paying as they normally would.

  In-store cashback requires Tyro eftpos terminals. Venues without Tyro hardware cannot participate in this program. Contact Hello Clever to discuss onboarding if you are not yet a Tyro merchant.

### How it works in store

### Setting up in-store cashback
